We arrived in Turkey at 5.30 Turkish time on Thursday. The flight had to spend about an hour circling Atta Turk airport as one runway was out of action and there was an enormous queue waiting to land. It took about 2 hours to get through Customs etc, and then we had to locate our driver who was to take us to our hotel in Sultanahmet. We found him with his sign board reading “Andrea Santos – Tan Hotel”. He drove us back to Sultanahmet through enormous difficulties, a tram accident and huge traffic jams.
Our hotel is lovely, very close to the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. We went out for tea at about 9.00 and it was very nice. Back at the hotel about 10.30 and off to bed. Very tired .Tried to use the blog, but discovered that the Turkish government had banned Blogspot because someone had broadcast the soccer through blogspot and bypassed all the pay to view sites. Google is cross and trying to sort out the problem but it has been going on since the beginning of March!

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you arrived in Turkey OK. Hope that the weather picks up for you, but you will keep warm with all the walking that you are doing. Take care ......Jen and Tim
Deano Here.... Good to hear you arrived after all the bother with the traffic, with the cold weather yourll all have to wear your lined tracky dackies. There should be enough walking between beautiful sites to warm you up until the weather warms a little. xd
