How much can the three of us cram into a day?

Last night we went to have tea at a little pub just around the corner from the hotel. It was called 'The Mitre' - a lovely English pub with great food and drinks. They were having their regular quiz night so we decided we'd play too. We did ok for a while, but fell sadly away when the questions turned to English football and T.V.
Great fun anyway.

This morning we left the hotel at 9.00 and caught the tube to the Monument - the Christopher Wren designed tower that commemorated the Great Fire of London. We climbed up to the top - 311 steps and had great views over London, even though it was cold, grey and windy. It's 202 feet high and you climb a very narrow circular staircase. We all climbed up and received our certificate of achievement when we reached the ground again.

After we had been to the Monument we went to St Paul's Cathedral. We were lucky enough to be right on time for a guided tour. Very interesting! It's a spectacular place, but you are not allowed to take photos inside.

We then went across the Millenium Bridge to the Tate Modern. A few great pictures but a lot of very weird stuff that was hard to call ART. Very odd!

We then went to the Globe Theatre which is next door - only in England!! The theatre tour was great. It's a fascinating place. Here is a photo of the gates which apparently contain all the creatures Shakespeare wrote about or included in his plays. They are beautiful.

We then went back to the hotel and found another nice pub to have tea in. Tomorrow we are off to Istanbul where it is cold and wet, very disappointing! An early morning for us. Be in touch from Turkey. Love to all.

We saw Jennie Boucher the other day and the kids had a big chat and a play with her.

  3. Hi Girls

Dean is here for tea tonight. He says to stay away from hard booze! and also the shoe shops!

Remember most of the good looking young waiters are probably gay! or very very happy at least.

Tim says to make sure you get a good price for your mother in old Constantinople!

Dad (PoP,Don) has asked what your flight was like. What did you think of the A380?

Take care Love Jen, Tim Dean and Don xx

  4. Hello ladies!
Great photos and nice to catch up on what you have been up to. My news: On my ferry ride over to Queenscliff from Sorrento I happened to look out the window and four dolphins were swimming right beside my window. One was showing off and kept showing off its belly. Anyway, it made my day. Keep having a ball and enjoy Turkey.
